CPAPD Delegation in Armenia

On May 20 by the invitation of Peace Committee of Armenia delegation of Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD) arrived to Yerevan. The delegation was headed by the Chairman of Committee on Environmental and Resources Protection of the National People’s Congress and Vice President of Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament Wang Guangtao.


Chinese delegation's first visit in Armenia was to the office of Peace Committee of Armenia, where the meeting of two organizations’ representatives took place headed by their leaders Wang Guangtao and Grigor Petrosyan.


President of Peace Committee of Armenia Grigor Petrosyan welcomed Chinese delegation. Wang Guangtao expressed gratitude for warm welcome and hospitality and hoped that this meeting will become a good start of effective collaboration between CPAPD and Peace Committee of Armenia.

During the meeting the possible fields of cooperation between two organizations were discussed. Both sides presented their organization's activities and all the new projects that are going to be realized by joint efforts. Wang Guangtao highly evaluated the fact that in the activities of Peace Committee of Armenia emphasis is put on charity, which is very good basis for peace establishment. It was mentioned that Armenian and Chinese people had a long history which was full of both good and sad events and these two countries have more than 2000 years of cooperation history that continues up to these days.

After this meeting head of Chinese delegation Wang Guangtao held a meeting with the Chairman of the National Assembly of the RA Hovik Abrahamyan. This meeting was aimed at strengthening friendly relations between Armenia and China.

During two days of Chinese delegation's visit to Armenia most of the time was given to sightseeing and getting acquainted with ancient culture of Armenian people.

First visit was to Tsitsernakaberd, memorial dedicated to the victims of Armenian Genocide, where the delegation put flowers and paid tribute to Great Genocide victims. Then the delegation visited Armenia’s state repository of ancient manuscript, the institute of Ancient Manuscripts Matenadaran, the spiritual centre of Armenia and the seat of head of the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church Ejmiadzin, the 2nd century pagan temple of Garni, monastery of Geghart, Yerevan Brandy-Wine factory as well as the dancing fountains in the Republic Square.


Visit of CPAPD delegation can be considered as a good start for the further cooperation and establishment of strong ties between two organizations.
